Bronchoscopy/EBUS

Dr Herath is a key opinion leader in the emerging area of lung medicine called “interventional pulmonology” – and works closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the right procedure is performed, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and a swift diagnosis.

Dr Herath is skilled in modern bronchoscopy procedures, which involves placing a tiny camera into the windpipe allowing her to view airways for blockages, foreign bodies, cancer, and abnormal secretions, all while the patient is under only light sedation.

Dr Herath also commonly performs endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) procedures including Linear EBUS and radial EBUS as well as Cryobiopsy. These minimally invasive procedures are all highly effective at pinpointing lung cancer, infections and other conditions causing enlarged lymph nodes in the chest.
